The first time we walked into Tomorrowland, the Mainstage was not there. In July 2025 a fire destroyed it a few days before the festival opened, and what we found instead was a giant video wall and cranes dressed up as a stage, reportedly built with parts of Metallica's touring rig. It was nothing like the photos. And it did not matter at all, because the sound was perfect, and that night we watched Swedish House Mafia, Armin van Buuren, and Hardwell back to back.

We have now done Tomorrowland twice, full weekend both times, and in two completely different ways. In 2025 we stayed in a hotel in Antwerp and took the train to Boom every day. In 2026 we slept in an Easy Tent in DreamVille, the festival's own camping town. That makes us pretty good people to answer the question every first-timer asks: DreamVille or hotel?

Our answer: if you have never done DreamVille, do DreamVille. It is an experience in its own right, and walking a few minutes to bed after the last set beats a crowded train at 2am. But if you have already lived the camping experience, or you are someone who really needs rest, a hotel is the better choice. Below is everything we learned both years: tickets, logistics, the queues, the food, what it all costs, and what we would do differently.

How We Got Tomorrowland Tickets Both Years

Getting tickets is the first festival, and it is a stressful one. Everything starts with pre-registration on the Tomorrowland website months in advance (for 2026 it ran from 8 December 2025 to 30 January 2026). Without it, you cannot buy anything. After that, tickets are released in waves, and each wave sells out fast.

  • Global Journey sale. Global Journey is Tomorrowland's official travel arm, selling the festival pass bundled with transport and accommodation: hotel packages, train and flight packages, and DreamVille packages. This is how we went in 2025.
  • First 20. The first 20 people from each country to pre-register get a private link to buy up to four tickets before everyone else. It sounds like a lottery, and it kind of is, but it worked for us in 2026.
  • Worldwide Pre-Sale and Worldwide Ticket Sale. The big public sales in late January. 2026 sold out.

Both years we bought the Full Madness Pass, the full-weekend ticket, which in 2026 cost roughly 365 to 400 euros depending on the sale. Day passes start around 138 euros, but after doing it twice we would not recommend fewer than three days. Day one is for getting lost, day two is for finding your stages, and day three is when you finally get it.

2025: Tomorrowland From a Hotel in Antwerp

In 2025 Dem arrived in Antwerp on the Thursday after a chaotic train day from Berlin: a cancelled train, a seat reservation that ended up on a carriage going to DĂĽsseldorf, and five minutes to change platforms in Brussels with two suitcases. He checked in to the B&B HOTEL Antwerpen Centrum, near the Opera and a short walk from Antwerpen-Centraal, and then on the Friday morning we moved across the street to our Global Journey hotel, YAYS Antwerp Opera by Numa, a set of modern apartments with kitchens right by the Opera. That is where a Global Journey rep handed us our goodie bags and the train tickets to the festival.

The best part of the hotel option is Antwerp itself. The night before the festival we had beers at a small bar facing the Cathedral of Our Lady, whose Gothic tower is the tallest in Belgium, and it was one of the best evenings of the trip. Antwerp is a genuinely good city: the old centre, the Trappist beers, and a very different energy from Brussels. If you have a spare morning, the Antwerp city highlights walking tour covers the essentials, and the Antwerp beer tasting tour is a very Belgian way to spend the afternoon before the festival.

The night before Tomorrowland 2025: beers facing Antwerp's Cathedral of Our Lady.

The logistics, though, are where the hotel option hurts. Getting there is easy: direct trains run from Antwerpen-Centraal to Boom in about 30 minutes, and from the station it is roughly a 15-minute walk to the gates. On the Sunday, though, we had a lunch booking inside the festival, and if we missed the 11:15 train the next useful one was an hour later. Check the timetable, not just the journey time.

Getting back is the real test. On our first night we left about 20 minutes before the end to beat the crowd. It did not help much. We walked for ages to find the right exit (the camping exit was no use to us), and then our train was delayed because someone pulled the emergency brake. We were in bed at 3am, destroyed but happy. That is the trade-off: a proper bed, a private shower, and a city to explore, in exchange for about an hour and a half of travel and walking each way at the worst possible times.

If you go the hotel route, stay near Antwerpen-Centraal so the station is walkable, and book early, because the whole city fills up on festival weekends. You can compare Antwerp hotels near Centraal on Booking.com as soon as you have tickets.

2026: Living in DreamVille in an Easy Tent

In 2026 we went all in. We came from Brussels, our friends from Bruges, and after a couple of train changes we all ended up on the same train to Boom. From the station we walked to DreamVille, picked up our Easy Tent (a pre-pitched tent with mattresses, so you do not have to carry any camping gear), dropped our bags, and, obviously, before anything else, filmed a little video of our new home for Instagram.

A glowing Tomorrowland sign lit in purple and pink among the trees of DreamVille at night

DreamVille by day (the pink Easy Tents) and by night.

DreamVille is not really a campsite. During Tomorrowland it becomes a small town with a supermarket, a bakery, restaurants, a gym, a barber, a pharmacy, official shops, and activities during the day. We walked over to Magnificent Greens, the other big camping area, to buy water and look around, and Dem, as tradition demands, came out of the official store with a rain jacket. In Belgium that is less a souvenir than a financial investment.

Then there is The Gathering, the Thursday-night party only for DreamVille residents. It is basically Tomorrowland saying "you thought you would rest before the festival? How sweet." It has full festival production, and the surprise artists that year included Lost Frequencies and Illenium. For us, Sandro Medick at The Gathering was one of the best moments of the whole Tomorrowland, in a much more relaxed atmosphere than the main festival. This party alone is a strong argument for camping at least once.

Now the honest part. Our first morning, reality hit fast: 45 minutes in the queue for a shower, with a numbered ticket system that felt more like a government office than a campsite, and then another half hour to get a coffee. The morning was almost gone. What saved us was the prepaid breakfast. It also had a longer queue than we expected, but it was really good, and we think it was worth it. In 2025 the Easy Tent breakfast cost about 29 euros a day or 85.50 euros for three days.

And the big advantage: at the end of the night, when we were completely wrecked after Hardwell, we just walked back to the tent and fell asleep almost instantly. No train, no platform, no emergency brake.

Inside the Festival: Stages, Sets and Outfits

Walking into Tomorrowland is one of those things photos do not explain. The Mainstage (the real one, in 2026) is enormous. More than a stage, it looks like a city built for one purpose: blowing your mind. There are around 15 to 16 stages in total, each with a completely different identity, from enchanted forests to futuristic structures, and walking between them is half the experience.

Left: the 2025 emergency Mainstage, built after the fire. Right: the real thing in 2026.

Some of our stages and sets, across both years:

  • Freedom. Andromedik on the Friday of 2025 was a 10/10, pure groove. Freedom gets packed, so arrive early for the big names.
  • The Great Library. Beautiful after dark, when it lights up with animations. We saw Dimension and Netsky there in 2025, and in 2026 it was our spot to lie on the grass and recharge.
  • Rose Garden. The one with the giant dragon. It was a drum and bass and hardstyle mix when we went, and we ended up soaked in sweat from dancing.
  • Crystal Garden and Core. Core is the stage hidden in the forest with the giant stone faces (our cover photo). Visually stunning, musically not our style, but worth seeing.
  • Mainstage. Our highlights: Swedish House Mafia, Armin van Buuren, and Hardwell in 2025; Anima, Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike, and a very round Martin Garrix closing set; and in 2026, Alok followed by Steve Angello, who was the winner of the night for us, with fireworks and thousands of people singing together.

Dress up. It is part of the fun. In 2025 our group wore matching light blue shirts and shorts covered in beer mugs and photos of each other (Dem had photos of a friend, she had photos of him, and so on). Someone shouted "nice outfit!" before we had even left the hotel, and at the entrance a Belgian Instagram account stopped us for an interview, had us rate other people's outfits, and gave ours a 9/10. In 2026 both couples in our group are getting married, so we turned the Friday into a joint do-it-yourself bachelor party: the brides-to-be in white, and the guys in light-up ties that seemed like a brilliant idea. They were.

Food, Drinks and Pearls

Inside the festival you pay with Pearls, Tomorrowland's own currency, loaded onto your cashless wristband. In 2025 one Pearl cost 1.82 euros, topped up in 20-euro steps, and a 500 ml beer was reported at 2 Pearls. The trick of the system is obvious: you stop thinking in euros very fast. Dem's proof: after a couple of pints and a few glasses of wine on the first afternoon of 2026, he walked into the official store and came out with a new T-shirt and shorts. 150 euros later, he remains convinced it was a completely unnecessary and completely spectacular purchase.

Our best food decision was lunch at the Belgian Classics Experience, a sit-down brasserie inside the festival serving a Belgian three-course menu, about 55 euros per person in 2025 (around 59 euros in 2026). You book it in advance. We were welcomed with a glass of Solo Vida, the festival's own cava, and some excellent croquettes, then beef tartare with a basil sauce (Dem's first tartare ever, approved) and a classic Belgian stew with fries. Was 55 euros a bit much? Probably. Was sitting at a real table in the middle of a festival day worth it? Absolutely. The highlight was a friend spending the rest of lunch with a huge piece of lettuce stuck in her teeth, which became the running joke of the whole weekend.

For the rest, festival food did the job: a mortadella focaccia at the level of "gourmet festival", crisps and endless Red Bulls at sunset in front of the Mainstage, and the glowing Red Bull cups, which are tacky, beautiful, and completely necessary. In 2025 we also had a Five Guys lunch in Antwerp before the train, which never fails.

Realistically, a full weekend from abroad is well over 1,000 euros per person once you add flights, food, drinks, lockers, and the merch you swore you would not buy. Two tips that help: book your locker as soon as the add-on sale opens, because they sell out, and set a Pearl budget per day before you walk in.

Festivals are also where phones get lost, ankles get twisted, and flights get missed (Dem had already lost an iPad on the way to the 2026 edition), so it is worth sorting out travel insurance before you go.

What We Would Do Differently

  • Shower at odd hours. In DreamVille, the morning rush is brutal. Go very early, or shower late at night when you get back.
  • Prepay breakfast. Queues and all, it was worth it compared with hunting for coffee.
  • Pack a rain poncho and earplugs. We bought ponchos in 2025 and a rain jacket in 2026. Earplugs made the long Mainstage nights much easier.
  • Learn your exit. If you are staying in a hotel, find the exit for the train station in daylight. The camping exit will not help you at 1am.
  • Check train times, not just journey times. Missing one train on a busy morning can cost you an hour.
  • Leave a little early on the last set, if you are going back by train. It will not make the trip smooth, but it helps.
  • Do not underestimate day zero. If you camp, The Gathering on Thursday is a full party. Pace yourself for a four-night weekend.

Our Verdict: DreamVille or Hotel?

If you have never been to DreamVille, it is without a doubt an experience worth having, and for first-timers we recommend it. You get The Gathering, the feeling of living inside the festival for a few days, and the simple luxury of walking to bed when the music stops, instead of spending the next hour and a half on a platform.

But if you have already done the camping experience, or you are someone who needs a lot of rest to enjoy three long days, the hotel is the better option. A real bed, your own shower, and a city like Antwerp to wander around in the mornings make a big difference by day three.

Before and After the Festival: Brussels, Bruges and Beyond

Tomorrowland is a great excuse for a bigger trip. Both years we spent time in Brussels around the festival, staying with a friend, eating well, and recovering. Brussels is easy to reach from Boom by train, and a beer and chocolate tour in Brussels is about as Belgian as it gets. If you have an extra day, the day trip to Bruges from Brussels or the guided day trip to Bruges and Ghent is a lovely, slow contrast to the festival. For beds, compare Brussels hotels on Booking.com.

We combined the festival with longer trips both times. In 2025 we went on to Switzerland, which became our 7-day Switzerland itinerary. In 2026 we flew in from Scandinavia after a week and a half in Copenhagen and Stockholm, which we wrote up in Copenhagen vs Stockholm. And Amsterdam is only a little over an hour from Antwerp on the high-speed train, if you want to add the best things to do in Amsterdam to the same trip.

Tomorrowland DreamVille vs Hotel: FAQ

Is DreamVille or a hotel better for Tomorrowland?

For first-timers, DreamVille. It is an experience in itself, it includes The Gathering party on the Thursday night, and after the last set you walk back to your tent instead of queueing for a train and getting to bed at 3am. If you have already done the camping experience, or you need proper sleep and a private shower, a hotel in Antwerp or Brussels is the better choice.

How do you get from Antwerp to Tomorrowland?

By train. Direct trains run from Antwerpen-Centraal to Boom in about 30 minutes, and from Boom station it is roughly a 15-minute walk to the gates. Global Journey hotel packages include the daily transfer. The return is the hard part: long walks to the right exit, crowded platforms, and a late night. On our first night someone pulled the emergency brake and we got to bed at 3am.

What is First 20 at Tomorrowland?

First 20 is an early sale for the first 20 people from each country of residence to pre-register. They get a private link to buy up to four tickets before the Worldwide Pre-Sale. You still need to pre-register, and after First 20 come the Global Journey sale, the Worldwide Pre-Sale, and the Worldwide Ticket Sale.

How much does Tomorrowland cost in total?

A Full Madness weekend pass costs roughly 365 to 400 euros and a day pass starts around 138 euros (2026). DreamVille packages with passes start around 410 euros per person for Magnificent Greens, and an Easy Tent package for two was reported from about 1,204 euros. Add lockers, food and drinks in Pearls, breakfast if you camp, merch, and flights: plan for well over 1,000 euros per person for a full weekend from abroad.

What should I bring to Tomorrowland?

A rain poncho or light rain jacket, earplugs, comfortable shoes for a lot of walking, a portable battery, and an outfit you are not scared to have fun with. If you camp, add flip-flops for the showers, a small towel, and patience: our first DreamVille morning we waited 45 minutes for a shower and another 30 for a coffee.

Is the Belgian Classics Experience restaurant at Tomorrowland worth it?

As a once-per-festival treat, yes. It is a sit-down brasserie inside the festival serving a Belgian three-course menu for about 55 euros per person in 2025 (around 59 euros in 2026), with a glass of Solo Vida cava on arrival. Not cheap, but sitting at a real table in the middle of a festival day is worth a lot.
